Spring 2014 Classes
Once again I’ll be offering Group Art Lessons at the
Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center in Auburn, Alabama. You can register for
these classes by going by or calling the Harris Center. ALL of my kids group class prices have been
lowered for Spring 2014!

Private & Semi-Private Art Lessons
• Type of class: private & semi-private art
lessons
• Description: Artist and educator, Laurie Brenden
offers private and semi-private art lessons in addition to her group classes
each quarter. A private lesson is for one student. Semi-private lessons are for
two students; the students can be siblings, family members, friends, etc. These
lessons are available by appointment only and spaces are limited! Please
contact her directly for more information or to sign up for private art
lessons.
• Ages: 6 years to adult
• Class Term: March 24 to May 23, 2014; NO CLASSES –
April 15 to April 21, 2014
• Day & Time: by appointment ONLY!
• Class fee: Private -> $80.00 for lessons (6, 1
hour sessions) plus $20.00 for supplies; Semi-Private -> $60.00 for lessons
(6, 1 hour sessions) plus $20.00 for supplies per student
Adult Art Studio
• Type of class: painting class
• Description: Want to come and do fun and easy art projects? These are one day make and take workshops.
Come once or sign up for the whole series. Everyone must come for a short
orientation and discussion of projects on April 2nd from 12:30 to 1 pm; there
is no fee for the orientation. Skill
Level: Basic: No prior experience needed. Small group instruction. Includes all supplies; please bring an apron
or smock. For more information, contact

• Class Term: April 2 to May 21, 2014 (7 weeks); NO
CLASS – April 16th
• Day & Time: Wednesdays; April 2 – Orientation
from 12:30 to 12:50pm; April 2 to May 21 – Class from 1:00 to 3:00 pm
• Class fee: $160.00 for all workshops, 50+ discount
$120.00 for all workshops; OR $20.00 per workshop, 50+ discount $15.00 per
workshop
Creative Painting
• Type of class: painting/mixed media class
• Description: Creative Painting is a new spin on
painting. Student will explore
creativity and imagination, while learning how to combine other media with
paint to make awesome multiple media projects.
Skill Level, Basic: No prior experience needed. Small group instruction.
All supplies are included.
• Ages: 8 - 12 years old
• Class Term: March 31 to May 19, 2014 (7 weeks); NO
CLASS – 4/21
• Day & Time: Mondays, 3:30 to 5 pm
• Class fee: $90.00 (includes supplies)
Kids Can Do: Colored Pencils
• Type of class: drawing class
• Description: Learn cool techniques, tips and tricks
for coloring with colored pencils. Some
basic drawing skills will be covered, but the focus will be on how to color
with, and mix colored pencils. Skill
Level, Basic: No prior experience needed. Small group instruction. All supplies
are included.
• Ages: 8 - 12 years old
• Class Term: April 2 to May 21, 2014 (7 weeks); NO
CLASS – 4/16
• Day & Time: Wednesdays, 3:30 to 5:00 pm

Midnight Monsters
• Type of class: drawing class
• Description: Learn how to draw the delightfully
devious characters of Japanese comics! We will be covering mysterious monsters
including: vampires, zombies, werewolves and witches. Each student will be encouraged to develop
his or her own cool characters and unique style of drawing. Skill Level, Intermediate: Prior drawing
experience preferred. Small group instruction.
Includes all supplies.

• Class Term: April 4 to May 23, 2014 (7 weeks); NO
CLASS – 4/18
• Day & Time: Fridays, 4:30 to 6:00 pm
• Class fee: $80.00 (includes supplies)
~ FAN CLUB ~
Join the Illustration Geeks!
• Type of class: anime-comics fan club
• Description: Are you into anime and manga, or are
comic books your thing? Are you crazy
for all things Japanese? Do you want to
meet other kids who are totally into fandom too? If so, then we WANT YOU! Join the Illustration Geeks! There will be guest speakers, workshops,
special events and more. While most things will be free; there will be a small
charge for some special events. Come and
see what all the buzz is about!
• Ages: 8 – 17 years old
• Day & Time: Fridays, 6:30 to 8:30 pm, March 28
to May 23, 2014; NO MEETING on 4/18, 5/9 & 5/16
