• Description: Weird and Wonderful! Your child can create amazing and unique art with odd and unusual things like salt, bubble wrap and vegetables. We will learn fun techniques including stenciling, sponging, color combing and more. Plus cool tips and tricks that make painting exciting and fun. All supplies will be included. Skill Level, Beginner/Intermediate: No prior experience required.

Anime Drawing: Amerimanga Superheroes
• Type of class: drawing
• Description: For years, American comic book artists have been inspired by the style of manga artists. Manga has transformed the work of American comic-book artists so much that a new term has evolved: amerimanga. Learn how to create your own amerimanga by giving traditional American superheroes and storytelling a twist with manga style techniques. Students taking this class will learn some basic drawing techniques plus cool tips and tricks. Each student will be encouraged to develop his or her own anime/manga characters and unique style of drawing. Skill Level, Intermediate/Advanced: Prior drawing experience preferred. Small group instruction. All supplies are included.

• Description: Learn how to create cosmic comics!  We will be making our own mini comic books in this fun, interactive class.  Students taking this class will learn the basics of drawing comics, plus cool tips and tricks.  Also each student will be encouraged to develop his or her own comic/cartoon characters, and unique style of drawing.  Small group instruction. Skill Level, Basic: No prior experience required. All supplies will be included.

• Description: Learn how to draw the delightfully devious characters of Japanese comics!  We will be covering mysterious monsters including: vampires, zombies, werewolves and witches.  Each student will be encouraged to develop his or her own cool characters and unique style of drawing.  Skill Level, Intermediate/Advanced:  Prior drawing experience preferred.  Small group instruction.  All supplies are included.

Stanley's Stamps

Let's Help Stanley! Join Miss Laurie for a fun, and free event. Design your own stamp to be included on stage during Auburn Area Community Theatre's production of Flat Stanley, Jr. You can even have your stamp returned to you after the production.


All participants must have a signed waiver on file listing the event, and wear painting clothes. Adults are all also welcome to come, and paint a stamp. To attend you must be a former or current student of Miss Laurie.

Kids Can Draw: Chibi Monsters

• Description: Manga is a Japanese style of comics; one popular aspect of manga are the chibis which are tiny and often cute. Full of personality, style, and pizzazz we will learn how to draw chibi creatures, popularly known as “pocket monsters”.  Each student will be encouraged to develop his or her own anime/manga characters and unique style of drawing.   Skill Level, Beginner/Intermediate:  No prior experience required.  Small group instruction. All supplies are included.

Teens Can Paint: Intermediate Watercolors
• Type of class: painting
• Description: Discover the wonderful world of watercolors!  Explore art in a small group setting with other teens. In this class you will learn intermediate watercolor techniques.  We will be covering perspective, composition and texture; we will also discuss intermediate color theory.  Skill Level, Intermediate/Advanced: prior experience preferred.  Small group instruction. All supplies are included.

• Description: Manga is a Japanese style of comics; there are many types of manga including fantasy manga.  Fantasy manga is filled with magical faeries, beautiful princesses, futuristic knights, heroic heroes, magical weapons and so much more!  Students taking this class will learn some basic drawing techniques plus cool tips and tricks.  Each student will be encouraged to develop his or her own anime characters and unique style of drawing.  Skill Level, Beginner/Intermediate:  No prior experience required.  Small group instruction. All supplies are included.

Private & Semi-Private Art Lessons
• Type of class: fine art
• Description: Artist and educator Laurie Brenden offers private and semi-private art lessons in the fine arts including watercolors, drawing, mixed media and much more. A private lesson is for one student. Semi-private lessons are for two students; the students can be siblings, family members, friends, etc. These lessons are available by appointment only and spaces are limited!
